The LYO relies on community support from both businesses and individuals to maintain one of the lowest youth orchestra membership fees in the nation, along with a thriving scholarship program. Your tax-deductible donation enables our students to engage in music making at the highest levels. A variety of annual sponsorship levels are available.

The Louisville Youth Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) organization and our Federal Tax ID is 61-0597184.  We file an IRS Form 990 and conduct an audit each year, both of which can be viewed on Guidestar.  We also publish an annual report at the close of each season.  The Louisville Youth Orchestra has met the Better Business Bureau’s 20 Standards for Charity Accountability and is a BBB Accredited Charity.

Venue Sponsor
The opportunity to perform in special locations is an important experience for our young musicians and sometimes critical for a high quality performance.  We are fortunate to have outstanding concert venues in our area such as the Kentucky Center, Brown Theater, and Iroquois Amphitheater.  Unfortunately, however, the costs of these facilities can be prohibitive without support.  Contact us to explore upcoming opportunities for making an important concert possible.

Series Sponsor
Sometimes a concert series is programmed to explore an educational purpose, reach targeted audiences, or accomplish other objectives.  For example, a recent series offered free, quality educational chamber music programs in Bullitt, Henry, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble counties.  These provided professional educational support for LYO members and stoked engagement and passion in surrounding communities

Concert Sponsor
The LYO presents around ten concerts each season.  These include collaborations with other arts organizations, educational programs, and popular Pops! concerts.  Ticket sales alone do not cover the cost of a concert and we must rely on the support of sponsors.  Sponsorships not only make concerts possible, but also provide vivid recognition of companies who appreciate the importance to our young musicians and to our audiences.

Tour Sponsor

LYO occasionally programs a tour to accomplish educational or community objectives.  For example, during recent years an orchestra has traveled to Middle Schools to play side-by-side with their orchestras and to present a program for their entire student bodies.  Financial support is needed to pay for transportation, food, etc.  These peer-to-peer programs have been highly successful.

One Child-One Year

The average cost for one year of participation in LYO is $1,500. This amount covers costs such as music, rehearsal and performance hall rental, performance production, conductor salaries and scholarships. We pride ourselves on offering LYO membership at a very reasonable $520 - one of the lowest membership fees in the nation - and we offer financial scholarships based on need.

LYO strives to minimize financial barriers to membership.

Ensemble Sponsor

The Master Artists program is designed for dedicated LYO students to develop their chamber music skills through regular ensemble rehearsals, specifically scheduled coachings, performance opportunities, mentorship and outreach. It is made possible through a collaboration between LYO and musicians of NouLou Chamber Players, Inc. There are typically 4-6 chamber ensembles that give young musicians remarkable developmental opportunities and enable the LYO to provide more intimate ensemble performances as part of our community outreach.
