April 2023

Did you know? The 2022-2023 Louisville Youth Orchestra season was marked by over 20% growth in enrollment — a great sign that the LYO is serving these young musicians and providing an enriching way to learn new music together. We also began providing free concert tickets to each of our need-based scholarship students. This has been an excellent way to further remove barriers for those at a disadvantage. However, one result of this special program was that LYO ticket revenue did not match our enrollment growth.

That is where you come in. Can you help us finish the year strong? The LYO intends to keep key concerts such as our final concert on April 30 at Iroquois Amphitheater free and open to the public. We are looking to community supporters like you to continue to help and sustain our impactful programming.

Thank you for renewing or magnifying your support of the LYO this season!

In gratitude,

Alissa Brody, Executive Director

November 2022

Dear friends of the LYO,

As 2022 comes to a close, we want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support. Thanks to the Louisville Youth Orchestra community, we are able to provide an extraordinary musical experience for over 250 students in the area. We hope you will consider a year-end gift that will help us continue cultivating musical leaders and make a difference in the lives of our young musicians!

Recent LYO News   We strive to reach students across our community. We recently added a new audition date in the West End of Louisville and increased overall student enrollment by 25%. We are also committed to reducing barriers and have been able to make great strides thanks to the generosity of our donors. In 2022, we increased our scholarships and re-established our Master Artists Chamber Players program.

Discovery Concert   The LYO remains committed to providing musically rich and engaging educational opportunities to students throughout the region. We recently welcomed student groups from across Kentucky and Southern Indiana to our Discovery Concert to celebrate music from around the world.

Coming Up   On Sunday, March 19, 2023, the LYO continues a long tradition of innovative programming with the Kentucky premiere of a new work by composer Jennifer Higdon. This concert is part of a partnership with New Music For America and will feature the student musicians in our Symphony Orchestra. In the meantime, we invite you to check out upcoming LYO performances:
