As 2023 comes to an end, we want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support. Because of Patrons like you, we have been able to live up to our mission of providing an extraordinary musical experience for young musicians in our region.

 

LYO is growing! One of LYO’s strengths is our alliance and partnership with music educators throughout our region. Over the summer, we worked to create new and strengthen existing relationships with many school teachers, private lesson teachers and arts non-profit leaders. In August, we heard more than 325 student auditions: resulting in a total enrollment of more than 300 students -- our highest student enrollment numbers in recent LYO history!

 

LYO is engaging! In November, LYO’s Symphony Orchestra presented a thrilling program for a “sold out” audience of 1,400 students. Not only are we able to extend this educational opportunity to the community at no cost to the students, but we were also able to offer bus subsidies to Title 1 schools that may not have been able to attend otherwise.

 

LYO is reaching! Our next major initiative is a reimagining of our Presto! Strings Program pairing LYO string music educators with elementary schools that have little or no access to music education. Presto! puts an instrument in the hands of young students and ignites the spark that may lead to the life-long pursuit as a musician. Our long-term vision is to be in dozens of area schools with hundreds of students enrolled in the program. Your contribution helps us employ impactful teachers who are committed to provide equal and equitable access to music education in our community.
