2023 LYO Discovery Concert for Middle Schools

Middle schools, home schools, and other age-appropriate groups in the region are invited to bring middle school students to an exciting field trip opportunity at the beautiful historic Brown Theatre. The annual Discovery Concert is performed by the most advanced orchestra of the LYO, Symphony Orchestra.

 

Myths, legends, and literature have influenced composers throughout history. The LYO Symphony Orchestra will present a concert of pieces inspired by mythology, folk tales, and stories. Led by LYO Music Director and music educator, Doug Elmore.

Don't miss this FREE field trip opportunity featuring an engaging and educational 50-minute morning orchestra concert designed for middle school-age students.

Complete the registration form on this page to reserve seats for your school or middle-school aged group. If your middle school is on holiday break during this concert date, individuals or small groups may sign up with a parent/guardian as chaperone.

Time: 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Performance duration is approximately 50 minutes, followed by an organized dismissal. Schools may begin arriving at 10:00 AM.

Cost: Free!

​

Assistance of $400 toward your school's bus costs is available to qualifying schools demonstrating need. Apply early to request a subsidy. Bus subsidies have been provided through the generosity of The Eye Care Institute and Butchertown Clinical Trials.
