SITE MANAGER (2 positions)

Site Manager Job Description


This position is part-time, averaging 8 hours per week. Annual pay range starts at $7,300 for approximately 41 weeks of work. Up to 34 weeks correspond to rehearsal/audition/concert activities late August–May. There is considerable flexibility in the summer months. 


The Site Manager is responsible for the setup and breakdown of LYO rehearsal rooms during the LYO season and for audition days. This includes moving racks of chairs and music stands, lifting individual chairs and stands, and arranging seating charts. This role manages weekly check-in, attendance, and some aspects of student records during the season, communicating with families as needs arise. The Site Manager works behind the scenes to supervise students and help rehearsals and concerts run smoothly. The Site Manager ensures a warm and inclusive environment for students to connect and establish a real sense of belonging, including leading simple social prompts for students to interact during rehearsal break.


This position also serves as LYO co-librarian and administrative support throughout the year. Responsibilities include preparing and distributing music for up to 4 ensembles, in coordination with the LYO Music Director and conductors, and assisting the Executive Director and Business Manager with regular projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible, highly professional, able to multi-task, energetic, and dedicated to the success and growth of each ensemble. Music or music education background strongly preferred.

Must be available Sundays during the regular season from approximately 12:30/1:00 PM until 5:30 PM on rehearsal weeks, with slightly expanded hours for dress rehearsals and concerts. See for sample schedule.

Horizons Brass Conductor  -  Intermediate brass ensemble, once weekly on Sunday afternoons


Parent and community volunteers directly support the Louisville Youth Orchestra through forward-facing and "behind the scenes" activities during rehearsals, performances, and sponsored trips. We often need help with setting up and taking down chairs and stands, collecting forms, or ensuring smooth transitions between activities. For most performances, we need help with tickets, programs, ushering, and merchandise sales.
