Gheens Concert a huge success
On February 7 the Symphony Orchestra performed in a Side-By-Side Concert with the spectacular Louisville Orchestra! The concert was part of the ongoing Gheens "Great Expectations" series. The program included solo features by our own Nicholas Recktenwald on trumpet, in addition to the dance-inspired "Conga del Fuego Nuevo" by Mexican composer Arturo Marquez, and concluded with Mussorgsky's spectacular "Pictures at an Exhibition"!
This year’s concert highlighted the visual arts as well by projecting images of winning entries from a statewide art contest inspired by Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. The Gheens Musical Inspirations Art Catalog 2018 is available for viewing online.
This concert was sponsored by the Gheens Foundation, the Kentucky Center and Kentucky Music Educators Association. What an evening!
