"We are thrilled to have the Louisville Youth Orchestra as a partner with Lincoln Elementary Performing Arts School for the 2011-12 school year.

Now in our 3rd year as the JCPS elementary performing arts magnet, working with staff of The LYO is right in sync with our vision for the school. When we began this year, both the LYO and LEPAS were hoping for 15 students from Grades 1 & 2 to participate. Instead, we had almost 40 applications! Due to the dedication of the LYO and the support from the Fund for the Arts, we were able to secure a 2nd teacher to accommodate all of our students. Thanks to the Louisville Youth Orchestra in joining us as we continue to nurture our students!"

Lincoln Elementary is the first JCPS elementary performing arts concept school of its kind. Lincoln emphasizes a strong academic program in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.

Each of the core academic areas is integrated with drama, music, and dance.

Community partnerships with leading arts groups provide experiences and instruction that a child can’t get anywhere else. The result is a rich, engaging, and powerful instructional program that provides a teaching and learning environment unlike any other.
